Local Nursery Café Now Contains More Labradors Than Customers

A popular Helderberg nursery café has officially reached maximum Labrador density according to confused staff attempting to navigate between tables carrying cheesecake.

Residents say the café once specialised in plants coffee and light breakfasts but now primarily functions as an informal dog convention with occasional cappuccinos.

Witnesses counted fourteen Labradors during Sunday brunch compared to just nine human customers.

Several dogs reportedly occupied chairs while one particularly confident chocolate Labrador made prolonged eye contact with diners near the carrot cake display.

“It’s lovely here because Baxter can really express himself” explained a Somerset West resident whose dog wore a raincoat despite clear weather.

The café’s outdoor area has since been divided into zones including “large friendly dogs” and “slightly judgemental dachshunds.”

Staff admit they no longer know most customers’ names but can identify nearly every Labrador on sight.

One waiter reportedly greeted a golden retriever before acknowledging its owner.

Meanwhile Gordon’s Bay residents remain sceptical of the trend.

“If your dog needs its own menu something has gone wrong” said one local man eating pie outside the old harbour.

The nursery itself has suffered collateral damage with multiple herbs allegedly trampled during an incident involving two overexcited puppies and a French bulldog named Winston.

Still business owners remain optimistic.

Management has announced plans for “Pawccino Fridays” and a new water bowl installation described as “artisan.”

At press time one Labrador was seen sleeping peacefully in the middle of the entrance while customers formed a respectful queue around him.
