Gordon’s Bay Shark Spotting Causes Immediate Beach Evacuation Except For One Determined Uncle

Panic erupted along Gordon’s Bay Main Beach yesterday after a shark sighting triggered a rapid evacuation involving whistles shouting and at least three dramatic sprinting incidents.

Within minutes families grabbed towels children and cooler boxes while lifeguards ordered swimmers from the water.

One Strand visitor reportedly ran so quickly he left behind both slops and a half-finished Russians and chips.

However despite the urgency one local uncle refused to leave.

Witnesses say the man identified only as “Clive” remained waist-deep in the water holding a fishing rod and calmly observing the commotion.

“I’ve seen bigger sharks at Harbour Island meetings” he allegedly replied when approached by lifeguards.

Attempts to remove him failed after he insisted the shark was “probably just curious.”

Residents say Clive has ignored multiple natural threats over the years including gale-force southeasters red tide and his doctor’s warnings about cholesterol.

Somerset West residents observing from restaurants above the coastline described the incident as “deeply concerning” while continuing lunch uninterrupted.

Meanwhile tourists from Europe appeared delighted by the experience with several reportedly applauding once the dorsal fin appeared.

“It felt authentic South African” explained one German visitor while photographing emergency vehicles.

The shark itself has not been identified though local fishermen believe it likely left the area after becoming exhausted listening to beachgoers shouting contradictory advice.

At the time of publication Clive was still in the water insisting the fish were “finally biting properly.”
